Laura Andel is a textile artist currently living in Lexington, KY. Born and raised in San Jose, Ca with a background in architectural design, she received her B.Arch and M.Arch from Savannah College of Art and Design. And later returned to school to receive her BFA in textile studies from California College of Art. Before creating her art practice, Laura worked for numerous architecture firms around the Bay Area, as well as an artist assistant for Jerome Meadows in Savannah, GA, Susan Avila in Emerville, CA and Gyongy Laky in San Francisco, CA.
Inspired by craft-work, Laura's abstract cross-stitch and classically made quilts explore themes of healing and survival. She is inspired by slow-art, mending, and repurposing.
